Afghanistan has high rates of malnutrition. Many children suffer from stunted growth and in extreme cases children are suffering from wasting. Wasting is a debilitating disease that causes muscle and fat tissue to waste away. The causes of wasting are normally due to low nutrient intake and loss of nutrients due to illness. Almost 40 years of war has left in its wake major damage to agriculture and food processing capacity. Furthermore road damage makes it difficult for the poor and needy to reach a location where they may be able to access what food is available. In the last 12 months we have delivered more than 50 tonnes of food aid to the most needy. Help us to help more people by donating now.
